Walls of Time

Castle walls of crumbling stone

Held off  foes, defended man.

Now that the enemies are gone

The stone tells what stories it still can.

Those who fought o'er those walls

Turned to dust, rotted away

And silent stood those empty halls

Lost to time and slow decay.

The stone's like man, decaying too,

Fading from the world we know.

A common theme, that what we do

Is lost to time's destruction crew.

Fast or slow we'll all be lost,

Covered by the sands of time.

We fight for our place at any cost

With huge achievements, petty crime.

But nothing stays the judging hand

That comes to ruin us, the end

Will come, with it our land

Shall end us all, both foe and friend.
